Carpet Cleaning Types

Types of Carpet Cleaning

Should you use dry or steam cleaning? Which method is better? Are these
even the right terms? Although these terms are frequently used with carpet
cleaning, both are technically incomplete and inaccurate references to carpet
cleaning methods.

There are actually 4 methods of carpet cleaning that have been approved by the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning, and Restoration Certification (IICRC), the world's most recognized body of certification for carpet and upholstery cleaners. Chem Clean is experienced in all methods and occasionally uses each of them.

1) Hot Water Extraction
2) Absorbent Pad
3) Dry Compound
4) Shampoo or Dry Foam

Truck-mounted Hot Water Extraction is the best method for residential carpet cleaning and most commercial applications. This method is sometimes called "steam cleaning", although steam is really not used. Hot water extraction uses a hot water solution that is produced and immediately extracted, creating a "flushing" action in the carpet.

Even though hot water extraction is considered to be the most effective method of carpet cleaning, the experience of your carpet cleaning company is what matters most. A trained technician will know what pressure to use, what cleaning solutions to use, and how to get maximum soil and stain removal without over-wetting your carpet or leaving a sticky residue behind. The horror stories of carpet being wet for days are due to operator error or inferior equipment. So be sure to select the right company!

At Chem Clean we always use truck-mounted hot water extraction for residential services. We only use high-end equipment with the best cleaning solutions, and we have well-trained, experienced technicians.
